The First time, Over 1,000 people parade in the Vietnamese traditional costume in Ho Chi Minh City.
A group of people in Vietnamese costumes from different periods paraded in the city center, had attracted the attention of domestic and foreign tourists on the morning of March 8, 2025
At 8:30 a.m., The parade had started from Nguyen Hue walking street, passing through many central streets include Le Loi, Ton Duc Thang, Lam Son Square, Dong Khoi.

The activity was a part of the Vietnamese costume festival “Bach Hoa Bo Hanh” which took place in Ho Chi Minh City for the first time, in the framework of the Ao Dai Festival. This Event had more than 1,000 participants, has brought to the audience with the ancient costumes from many periods.
The activity focused on Vietnamese costumes to honor the beauty of traditional costumes of Vietnam through many periods.

The group had worn in traditional costumes of the Nguyen Dynasty with the leader by Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City. The group had paraded slowly on Nguyen Hue Street for visitors could admire the traditional costumes.

“This was an event to honor the beauty of the traditional ao dai and for everyone – especially young people to be showed their national pride in national culture,” said Mr. Hai.

From left to right are the costumes of the queen, the prince and the first-rank Mandarin of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 – 1945). The ancient costumes are decorated with dragon and phoenix motifs on the body and hat, closely in following the regulations.

Behind is a group with 50 womens had worn Nhat Binh Ao Dai in Nguyen Dynasty.

Ao Nhat Binh is the royal costume of the Nguyen Dynasty, reserved for queens, princesses, and concubines. The dress has a square neck, wide sleeves, no buttons, and was usually made from silk or brocade, embroidered with phoenix and flower motif. Today, Ao Dai Nhat Binh was restored and to be worn in festivals, weddings, and traditional photography.

A group had worn giao linh dress from the Le Trung Hung period (17th-18th century), passed the City Theater.

Giao Linh dress was popular from the Ly – Tran to Nguyen dynasty. The costume has a cross-neck, no button but is secured with a tie or belt, and has wide or narrow sleeves depending on the period. The shirt is usually made of silk or brocade combined with a skirt for women or pants for men. This is the costume worn by both commoners and nobles, but mandarin and royalty have their private colors and motifs to show their status.

A group with 20 people reenacted the Nguyen Dynasty procession with many accessories such as drums, flags, fans, and thrones. The leader of the group continuously had beaten the drums, attracted many on lookers.

Many foreign visitors had enjoyed the Vietnamese traditional costume parade on the street. They said they were “overwhelmed” by the scale and diversity of the ancient costumes.

At around 10am, the event had ended, attracted thousands of spectators to watch and take photos as the ancient costume parade passed by.

According to the Organizing Committee, the event will take place in Hue in the middle of this year. After 5 times of organization, Bach Hoa Bo Hanh will become a festival welcomed throughout the country.
